Here is the exclusive Gautamiputra Satakarni review & rating!
Nataratna Nandamuri Balakrishna has taken an appreciable decision signing a historic drama leaving all the regular commercial format flicks aside. As the Nandamuri hero and director Krish Jagarlamudi stated several times, knowing the overlooked history of an adventurous warrior king who is not just the Telugu pride but the pride of nation. Let us see whether the duo succeeded in narrating an intriguing story on him.
Gautamiputra Satakarni Story:
The prince of Satavahana dynasty, Gautamiputra Satakarni who rules with the capital Amaravati, decides to bring the vast empire of India together. In the process he wins over 29 kingdoms. Meanwhile a greek emperor, Demetrius plots to invade India and rule the country. How Satakarni defeats him, how he takes the nation’s fame forward and what situations does he face with his mother Gautami Balasri and wife Vashishti Devi form the rest of the story.
Balayya as Satakarni took the film to next level with his dialogue delivery, body language and royal appearance. Each and every dialogue by him is an absolute treat for the audience. It is no exaggeration if one would say that Satakarni can be played by none other than the Nandamuri hero. Hema Malini and Shriya Saran have done an excellent job and will be remember for their roles, Balasri and Vashishti Devi. Others have also done a remarkable job with their roles.
DOP Gnanaskhekar’s cinematography is a huge asset and each and every frame speaks for his work. Chiranthan Bhatt’s songs are refreshing and the background score is the backbone of the film. Production values are good. Dialogues penned by Sai Madhav Burra are the major highlights and will be talked about even after watching the film.
Krish deserves special applause for taking the subject of history and making a film on it with Balayya. The way he made the whole film shows his calibre in both ways, choosing a perfect team and shooting it in such a short period of time. Also the way he handled the war sequences is quite phenomenal. He has succeeded in narrating an intriguing plot with perfect emotion.

Gautamiputra Satakarni Story:
As the director, Krish revealed the plotline in several interviews, Gautamiputra Satakarni is the story of a great warrior who brought the mother India together and established a nation with his invasion. The ace film maker also stated that it is unfortunate that almost no one from our Telugu states knew Satakarni’s history. How the greatest ruler of India became a ruler and how he built the nation and what actually is his life drama explains the actual story.
Dialogues delivered by Balayya in the first look teaser and theatrical trailer prove that no other star from tollywood can bring such an impact playing Satakarni. Be it royalty, grace, appearance or fierceness the Nandamuri hero performs it with utmost perfection. Hema Malini looks apt in the role of Gautami Balasri and carries it all in her body language. Shriya Saran as Vashishti Devi suits Balayya to the best and seems to manage a fresh rapport with him even after pairing opposite him in the film, Chennakeshava Reddy.
Visuals are the first craft that attracted each and every viewer right from the release of the teaser, Gnana Shekar’s cinematography speaks it all. Chiranthan Bhatt’s songs have got tremendous response along with a great appreciation for Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry’s lyrics. Even though the makers did not spend a bomb on the historic drama each and every frame of the film seems to have been filled with grandeur. Hope the director, krish succeeds with his brave and honest attempt and spread the pride of Satakarni’s history.
